About Lasell College

Lasell College is a private college in Newton, which is a city in the US state of Massachusetts, situated in Middlesex County, with more than 83 000 people, living within its limits, as estimated during the 2000 census, fact which makes it the 10th largest city in the state.

Lasell was founded in 1851, by Edward Lasell, and first started as Auburndale Female Seminary, being renamed as Lasell Female Seminary, after Lasell died of typhoid fever, during the college's first semester.

The college currently offers its students bachelor's degrees in professional disciplines and graduate programs in similar areas of study, its most popular major being Fashion Design.

Athletics

Lasell's athletic teams are known as the Lasers and they compete in NCAA Division III. Their distinctive colors are blue and white.
